Sandoyartunnilin opened in 2023 and replaced the ferry from Gamlarætt. Tolled.

Sandoy is the flattest and softest of the islands — beaches instead of cliffs, dunes at Sandur, and a pace that feels slower even by Faroese standards.

The tunnel changed it. It is now under an hour from Tórshavn, which makes it a genuine half-day option in a way it never was when it depended on the ferry.

We do not know: Bus coverage on Sandoy

BEST has no machine-readable national timetable. Routes exist but frequency is not something we can state reliably — check SSL directly.
