Gjógv takes its name from the gorge — a narrow inlet cut into the cliff that served as the village’s harbour, with a boat winch still at the top of it.
This is the clearest example in the country of why BEST reports what is nearby honestly. Within 800 metres of the guesthouse there are two places to eat and one of them is the guesthouse. There is no shop, no fuel and no scheduled bus.
